Meet Recap

The boys cross country team finished first out of a field of 23 teams at the Mentor “Cardinal Classic.” The team had a low score of 42 points. Other teams finishing in the top five were: Cleveland St. Ignatius with 50 points, Mentor (109), Strongsville (129), and Notre Dame Cathedral Latic (175). Alex Stamper in 3rd place with a personal best of 16:07 for the 5,000 meter race led his teammates across the finish line. Other varsity runners with their place and times were: Jake Wichert (5th – 16:15), Zach Robertson (8th – 16:27), Harry Custer (11th – 16:30 and a new PR), Caleb Cummings (15th – 16:47), Alex Loeper (22nd – 16:56), Ryan Oleksiak (29th – 17:03), Noah McKee (50th – 17:35), and Blake Butsko (57th – 17:43). There were 185 runners in the varsity race.

In the JV Race the seven top runners for Medina were:Jeff Hurst finishing 2nd in 17:46, Michael Palocko was 3rd in 17:49, Caleb Cline was 13th with an 18:17, Alan Dravenstott was 15th in 18:23, Tyler Bohmer was 18th in 18:33, Nate Swindell’s time of 18:33 gave him 19th place and Graham Hayden was 20th in 18:33.

The team is back in action at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival this coming Saturday. This meet is the second largest high school sponsored meet in the USA! There will be teams from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Over 220 high schools and 7500 runners will be competing.
