Medina High School
Euclid High School
The varsity football team added another chapter to an already memorable season on Thursday night with a come-from-behind 26-19 victory on the road over Euclid. The Battling Bees trailed 19-6 late in the 3rd quarter but scored the last 20 points to secure the win. Medina finished the game with a 98-yard drive that ended with the go ahead touchdown by Alex Whittaker on a one yard QB sneak with 1:33 left in the game. Demetrius Shannon sealed the victory with an interception on the Panthers next drive.
Medina improved to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the GCC. The victory sets up a showdown with the Solon Comets on Senior Night, who are also 8-1 on the season but 6-0 in the league. The Battling Bees will have a shot at its first conference championship in football in over 43 years. They have clinched a playoff berth already but will also be playing for a home game in the 1st round of the OHSAA playoffs.
