Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, the hospital medical staff, and the Medina Hospital Foundation are now accepting scholarship applications from Medina County graduates pursuing a course of study in the medical field during the 2021-22 academic year. The scholarships are made possible by the Medina Hospital medical staff and donors to the Medina Hospital Foundation.
These scholarships have provided more than $720,000 to Medina-area students choosing to pursue a medical career. In 2020, Medina Hospital awarded 31 scholarships, dispersing more than $46,000.
Applications must be submitted online by March 16. Applications and eligibility requirements are available at www.MedinaHospitalFoundation.org.

While eligibility details for each scholarship vary, general requirements include that the applicant must be a graduate of one of the seven Medina County school districts and be pursuing a healthcare career field of study. Students who are seeking to become doctors, nurses, or members of allied health professions are encouraged to apply. These scholarships are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.
-Medina Hospital Foundation Community Scholarship – Up to 14 scholarships of $1,000 each will be granted. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors in one of seven Medina County high schools including Black River, Brunswick, Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Highland, Medina, or Wadsworth, OR home-schooled students residing in one of these school districts. Applicants must plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in fall 2021. Applicants must pursue a degree in nursing or an allied health curriculum. Up to two awards will be granted to students of each high school if qualified applications are received.
-Jean Myers Scholarship – Up to seven awards of $1,000 each will be granted to Medina Hospital student volunteers and the dependents of hospital caregivers. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or are students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Applicants must also either be dependent children, age 25 and under, of full-time or part-time Medina Hospital employees who have a minimum of one year of employment with the hospital as of the application date, March 16, 2021, OR student volunteers who have completed at least 40 hours of service within the past 12 months at Medina Hospital and are in good standing with the volunteer program. Provided there are qualified applications, at least four of the scholarships will be granted to student volunteers. Recipients of these four scholarships do not have to be children of employees.
-Bill and Ruth Kelly Scholarship – Two $1,000 scholarships will be granted. Applicants must be high school seniors at or graduates of one of the seven selected Medina County schools. Applicants must plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in fall 2021. Applicants must pursue a degree in nursing or an allied health curriculum.
-Medina Hospital Medical Staff Scholarships – The Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital Medical Staff offers the Health Profession Scholarship to high school seniors who reside in Medina County and are pursuing a career in the medical field. Administered by the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital Medical Staff, this scholarship was founded to recognize and encourage young adults who are pursuing a career in healthcare, whether it be in medicine, nursing, or allied health. Up to 10 scholarships for $2,500 each will be awarded.
