The varsity boys basketball team opened up the season with a 104-51 victory over Firelands in the DiFranco Memorial Tip-off Classic hosted by Midview High School on Wednesday afternoon. Eleven players scored for the Bees in the game with five players finishing in double figures. Senior Kyle Szumski led the team with 17 points, while junior Corey Tripp had 16 points and 7 assists. Doug Sartain and Brandon Geschke each scored 12 points. Jadin Clark finished with 11 points.
Medina is 1-0 overall on the season. They will be back in action next Tuesday when they take on the Keystone Wildcats in an afternoon matinee from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on the home floor of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tickets for the high school game and the Cavs game are still available for purchase in the Medina Athletic Department. The cost for a ticket to both games is $25.
