The Medina gymnastics team finished second in the sectional meet hosted at West Geauga today advancing to the district meet next weekend. The top 4 teams advanced as well as the top 12 individuals on each event for a chance to compete for a spot at the state tournament. Qualifying as individuals for the Bees: Colleen Johnson (vault 6th, bars 6th, beam 4th, all around 4th), McKinley Kerans (vault 11th, beam 8th, all around 11th), Meghan Deighton (bars 8th, beam 10th, floor 4th, all around 7th), Addison Kasian (bars 9th, beam 9th). Senior, McKinley Kerans highlighted the meet with her best overall performance of her high school career and a new vault helping the Bees earn their highest team score of the season. Freshman, Macy Maxworthy fell just short of individual advancement but was a huge contributor to the team score on beam and floor. Also contributing for the Bees, junior, Jenna Sterk and sophomore, Madelyn Deighton. We are so proud of their performance today and even more proud of these girls being voted the sectional Sportsmanship Team of the Year. What a great group of girls! The district meet will be next Saturday, also held at West Geauga High School. Go Bees!
