The Medina girls basketball team topped a tough North Canton Hoover team on Saturday afternoon, winning by a score of 49-42 against one of the Federal League’s top squads. Hoover came into the game with five wins on the season. The Bees (2-2) returned to the court after a 2-week pause for winter sports.
Sarah McKee led the way with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals while Mylie Roberts added toughness in the post with a career-high 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist.
Medina, which shot 88% from the free throw line, also got boosts from Elizabeth Stuart (6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists), Hailey Tripp (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block) and Shannon Wojciak (4 points, 5 rebounds). Point guard Aly Dwyer helped direct the offense & defense while chipping in 2 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal. Regan Todia, Kayla Joyner, Kate Bobey and Ella Silvis played some key minutes off the bench vs the Vikings.
Medina travels to Akron tomorrow for a Sunday evening game vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary.
