#1 seed Medina (22-2) topped #4 seed Magnificat on Monday night, advancing to the Parma Valley Forge District Championship Game. The Bees led just 19-16 at the half, but used a 25-point third quarter and a variety of defenses to break away. The Bees will play in their third district final game in the past 10 years (2012, 2017, 2019) on Thursday at 7pm vs. #3 St. Joe’s, victors over #2 Berea-Midpark.
Medina was led by Alexa Nau, Madison Luthy, Abby McMullen, Sarah McKee, Lindsey Linard, Katie Neate and Elizabeth Stuart. The team also shot 75% from the foul line to help seal the victory.
McKee paced the Bees with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block while Stuart tallied 14 points off the bench. Neate sparked the team in the second half with 6 points, 4 steals, 3 assists while Linard poured in 11 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals and Nau added 6 points (all in the 4th quarter), 4 assists.
Pre-sale tickets for Thursday’s 7pm championship game will be sold in the Medina Athletic Department this week ($6 adults, $4 students)
