The Medina boys cross country team finished in the runner-up spot at the Medina District Meet this past weekend. The team was led by Caleb Cummings second place finish and his personal record of 16:08 for the 5K distance. Harry Custer was 10th in 16:38, and he was followed closely by Graham Hayden and his 11th place effort (16:39 – new PR). Michael Palocko was 15th in 16:48 which was a PR). Kevin Horrigan rounded out the scoring with a 30th place finish in 17:16 (personal record – PR). Cameron Schontzler (31st – 17:17, PR), and Charlie Heidinger (41st – 17:41, PR) were the other runners running for the varsity.

In the “Unofficial Open” Race there were many great efforts and personal records (PR’s).
Drew Reddick (17:26 – PP), Eli Schmeller (17:39 – PR), Blake Butsko (17:43), Jake Parkhurst (17:47 – PR), and Tyler Bohmer (17:49) were the runners breaking 18:00. Other runners under 18:30 were: Brandon Piehler (18:03 – PR), Darren Leupp (18:04 – PR), Carter Kolesar (18:09), Jeff Hurst (18:15), Nick Stump (18:23), and Bryce Vein (18:38).

The Varsity will be competing in the Boardman Regional Meet this coming Saturday and Boardman High School. The top seven teams will qualify for the State Meet (November 3) in Hebron.
